Crunch Time

I will not be around much for the next few weeks--the end of the semester is December 19 and I have a lot to do before then. I promise not to disappear for three months this time :)

On another note, I am kind of slow but I can take a hint. I am going to *shorten* and modify the survey and publish it all on one page probably around mid-December. I will also offer a multiple choice survey for those who do not have time to do the short answer survey.

I would like to translate the *short* multiple choice survey into Arabic, so if you or anyone you know could translate from French or English to Arabic, I would really appreciate the assistance. I cannot offer much by way of exchange but I am pretty good at proofreading English so if you have any documents you would like me to check for spelling and grammatical errors I would be happy to help out.

Je vais abréger et modifier l'enquête et la publier sur une seule page, probablement vers la mi-Décembre. Je propose également un sondage à multiples choix pour ceux qui n'ont pas le temps de faire la réponse brève.

Je voudrais traduire la courte version de l'enquete/questionaire à choix multiples en arabe, donc si vous ou quelqu'un que vous connaissez peut traduire du français à l'anglais ou l'arabe, je voudrais vraiment apprécier l'aide. Je ne peux pas offrir beaucoup par voie d'échange, mais je suis très bien à la correction d'épreuves en anglais, si vous avez des documents que vous souhaitez pour moi de vérifier l'orthographe et de grammaire, je serais heureux d'aider.

Six Parts

Thank you so much to everyone that has taken the survey. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your time. I also wanted to remind people that there are 6 parts because 35 people have responded to the first part but only 11 people have gotten to part 6. You have time since I am not closing it until February but I do not want you all to forget about it either :)

The surveys are a critical part of my research because without your input I might interpret the discussions in your blogs differently from how they were intended due to my distinct cultural background. Performing surveys and interviews along with content analyses also increase the validity of studies because findings are reinforced on several fronts.

Merci beaucoup à tout les personnes qui ont participes a l'enquête. Je ne peux pas vous dire combien j'apprécie votre temps. Je voulais aussi rappeler aux gens qu'il y a 6 questionaires parce que 35 personnes ont répondu au premier, mais seulement 11 personnes ont repondu àux 6 questionaires. Vous pouvez toujour y acceder a travers les liens.

Les enquêtes sont une partie essentielle de ma recherche, parce que sans votre contribution je ne pourrais interpréter les débats dans vos blogs différemment de la façon dont ils étaient destinés en raison de mon arrière-plan culturel distinct. L'exécution des visites et interview avec le contenu analyzes également d'accroître la validité des études parce que la recherche est renforcé sur plusieurs fronts.

Espionage

This post is in response to the following statement that someone made on the survey: "J'ai le sentiment que la these et pour les barbus." (Sorry, if I wrote this wrong...Loosely translated it means "I have the feeling that this thesis is for the bearded [Islamists].")

Personal Questions- Oh, la la

Some of the respondents have asked why I ask demographic and personal questions (for example, about religion and politics). I am not just being nosy :) When doing studies on groups of people, it is important to know about the population you are investigating not only so other researchers can improve on the information you gather but also so you know if the information garnered from your research can be applied to other groups or if your study is representative of the larger population to which it belongs. I hope this makes sense. Also, these surveys are completely anonymous and, other than the information provided on the first page, I have no idea who is responding to the other parts of the survey. Certains répondants ont demandé pourquoi je demande à la démographie et les questions personnelles (par exemple, au sujet de la religion et politique). Je ne suis pas juste être curieux:) En faisant des études sur des groupes de personnes, il est important de connaître la population que vous êtes d'enquêter non seulement pour d'autres chercheurs peuvent améliorer les informations sur vous recueillir mais aussi pour vous pour savoir si l'information recueillie à partir de votre la recherche peut être appliquée à d'autres groupes ou si votre étude est représentative de l'ensemble de la population à laquelle il appartient. J'espère que cela fait sens. En outre, ces enquêtes sont totalement anonymes et, autres que les renseignements fournis sur la première page, je n'ai aucune idée de qui est de répondre aux autres parties de l'enquête.
