Preliminary Results

I apologize it has taken me so long to post this. A few people asked if I would share my results so this is a little taste (I am still working on my analysis):

*49 respondents, 36 of them were Moroccans

*30 of the respondents are living in Morocco

*9 of the respondents primarily blog in English, 15 in French, 6 in Arabic (19 people did not respond to this question)

*21 of the 42 people that responded to the question of whether they considered themselves to be Muslims before Moroccans, said that they first considered themselves to be Moroccans first and foremost

*44 (unanimous among those that answered this question) of the respondents thought that people should be able to write about anything they like

*When asked about the most important events that have occurred in the Blogoma over the past couple of years, most mentioned events related to freedom of speech and/or human rights

A couple of people did not like the last seven questions regarding religious orientation so I wanted to clarify the the purpose of these questions (I discussed them in the paragraph at the top of the survey but who reads instructions :)). I took them from a survey administered by Tozy and some other researchers at Universite Hassan II because I wanted to perform a regression analysis to see if the respondents of my survey were from the same population so I had to present the answers just as they had. I will post the results after I have brushed up on stats--it has been 2 years. That is all for now--I'll share more later.

Je m'excuse, il m'a fallu si longtemps à ce poste. Quelques personnes ont demandé si je voulais partager mes résultats donc c'est un peu le goût (je travaille toujours sur mon analyse):

* 49 répondants, 36 d'entre eux étaient des Marocains

* 30 des répondants vivent au Maroc

* 9 des répondants blog principalement en anglais, 15 en français, 6 en arabe (19 personnes n'ont pas répondu à cette question)

* 21 des 42 personnes qui ont répondu à la question de savoir s'ils se considèrent comme musulmans avant d'être marocaine, a dit que ils ont d'abord considéré les Marocains eux-mêmes

* 44 (unanimité parmi ceux qui ont répondu à cette question) des répondants estiment que les gens devraient être en mesure d'écrire sur tout ce qu'ils aiment

* Lorsqu'on l'interroge sur les événements les plus importants qui ont eu lieu dans la Blogoma au cours des deux dernières années, la plupart des événements liés à la liberté de parole et / ou des droits de l'homme

Quelques personnes n'ont pas apprecier les sept dernières questions qui concernent l'orientation religieuse. je voulais clarifier le but de ces questions (j'ai discuté ce point au début de l'enquête, mais qui lit des instructions d'essai? :)). Je les ai copier d'un sondage administré par Pr. Tozy et d'autres chercheurs à l'Université Hassan II, parce que je voulais effectuer une analyse de régression afin de voir si les répondants au sondage sont de la même population, je devais donc présenter les réponses comme ils l'avaient fait. Je vais poste les résultats après avoir reviser mes cours de statistiques. C'est tout pour aujourd'hui.

New Survey

I have decided to modify the focus of my study to a topic that seems to be of more interest to the Moroccan blogging community--freedom of speech and human rights--so it is taking longer than I expected to put it together. I should have it up by the end of the week and I will leave it open until March 1. It will be much shorter than the first one (probably 10-15 questions) so please consider completing it even if you did the first survey as it has been largely reworked. Thanks!

J'ai décidé de modifier l'orientation de mes études vers un sujet qui semble avoir plus d’'intérêt pour la communauté marocaine de blogueur - la liberté d'expression et les droits de l'homme – ca me prendra un peut plus de temp a preparer le questionnaire. Je vais l'avoir d'ici la fin de la semaine et il sera accessible jusqu'à ce qu’au 1er Mars. Il sera beaucoup plus courte que le première (10 a 15 questions). Le questionnaire sera completement reformuler.

Crunch Time

I will not be around much for the next few weeks--the end of the semester is December 19 and I have a lot to do before then. I promise not to disappear for three months this time :)

On another note, I am kind of slow but I can take a hint. I am going to *shorten* and modify the survey and publish it all on one page probably around mid-December. I will also offer a multiple choice survey for those who do not have time to do the short answer survey.

I would like to translate the *short* multiple choice survey into Arabic, so if you or anyone you know could translate from French or English to Arabic, I would really appreciate the assistance. I cannot offer much by way of exchange but I am pretty good at proofreading English so if you have any documents you would like me to check for spelling and grammatical errors I would be happy to help out.

Je ne serait pas disponible les semaines à venir - la fin du semestre est Décembre 19 et j'ai beaucoup à faire avant cette date. Je promets de ne pas disparaître pendant trois mois cette fois:)

Je vais abréger et modifier l'enquête et la publier sur une seule page, probablement vers la mi-Décembre. Je propose également un sondage à multiples choix pour ceux qui n'ont pas le temps de faire la réponse brève.

Je voudrais traduire la courte version de l'enquete/questionaire à choix multiples en arabe, donc si vous ou quelqu'un que vous connaissez peut traduire du français à l'anglais ou l'arabe, je voudrais vraiment apprécier l'aide. Je ne peux pas offrir beaucoup par voie d'échange, mais je suis très bien à la correction d'épreuves en anglais, si vous avez des documents que vous souhaitez pour moi de vérifier l'orthographe et de grammaire, je serais heureux d'aider.

Six Parts

Thank you so much to everyone that has taken the survey. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your time. I also wanted to remind people that there are 6 parts because 35 people have responded to the first part but only 11 people have gotten to part 6. You have time since I am not closing it until February but I do not want you all to forget about it either :)

The surveys are a critical part of my research because without your input I might interpret the discussions in your blogs differently from how they were intended due to my distinct cultural background. Performing surveys and interviews along with content analyses also increase the validity of studies because findings are reinforced on several fronts.

Merci beaucoup à tout les personnes qui ont participes a l'enquête. Je ne peux pas vous dire combien j'apprécie votre temps. Je voulais aussi rappeler aux gens qu'il y a 6 questionaires parce que 35 personnes ont répondu au premier, mais seulement 11 personnes ont repondu àux 6 questionaires. Vous pouvez toujour y acceder a travers les liens.

Les enquêtes sont une partie essentielle de ma recherche, parce que sans votre contribution je ne pourrais interpréter les débats dans vos blogs différemment de la façon dont ils étaient destinés en raison de mon arrière-plan culturel distinct. L'exécution des visites et interview avec le contenu analyzes également d'accroître la validité des études parce que la recherche est renforcé sur plusieurs fronts.
